Ashley Mireles is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and arts administrator whose work explores themes of observation, identity, and cultural memory through drawing and printmaking. Her practice often layers historical and contemporary imagery to examine the ways in which people interact with art and public space. Her work can be found in the collections of Artpace San Antonio, Hardberger Park Tobin Land Bridge, Mexic-Arte Museum, National Museum of Mexican Art, Texas Christian University Print Collection, University of Texas Libraries Special Collections, Walt Disney Company, Zuckerman Museum of Art, and the San Antonio River Walk.
In addition to her studio practice, Ashley has over 20 years of experience in cultural programming. As the Public Art Curator for the San Antonio River Foundation, she facilitated the development of temporary and permanent public art projects, including Art In the Open, an initiative bringing site-specific performances and installations to the San Antonio River. She previously served as the Education and Community Programs Manager at Artpace San Antonio and grant panelist for the City of San Antonio, City of Austin, Texas Commission on the Arts, and the National Association of Latino Arts & Cultures. Ashley is a member of the City of San Antonio's Public Art Committee, a Friends of San Antonio Public Library Arts & Letters Award recipient, San Antonio Area Foundation Artist Fellow, and National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures Advocacy and Leadership Institutes Fellow.
